Episode 11 – Everybody’s story: How the pandemic affected tourism in Tulum
/For all of us 2020 was an unforgettable year. The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 changed the way we live, interact with each other, communicate, work and how we travel. Although the world was united through its collective standstill, each and everybody experienced the pandemic ridden months in a unique way.
To give you an authentic account on how the situation was and is in Tulum, I recorded a solo episode for you in which I give you an insight into the different phases of the pandemic in the tourist hotspot at the Mexican Caribbean. With worldwide travel bans in effect – an absolute first for the industry – the people in regions depending on tourism are mostly affected by the absence of travelers. Because with vacationers staying home, their main and often times only source of income completely runs dry.
